Tom Korbee's music is a unique blend of storytelling with a new pop sensibility all wrapped around a voice and the piano. With influences of Billy Joel, Todd Rundgren, Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, Tom creates an emotional, almost cinematic, experience with his work.
Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Tom began playing the piano, writing songs and performing when he was 5. While in high school he studied jazz piano & composition and wrote, co-produced, and starred in “Shades,” an original full length musical about life, forgiveness, and teen violence which was produced by his alma mater, St. Xavier High School.
Tom continued his studies at the prestigious University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music (CCM) where he earned his BFA in Drama. Aside from starring in many plays and musicals at CCM, in 2002 he wrote, produced, and starred in a concert-style musical of his songs called “Will It Ever Stop Raining?” which was produced at CCM and received rave reviews & sold out every performance.
After his successes at CCM, Tom immediately relocated to New York City and was cast in a leading role in the world premiere of “Showtune; the Jerry Herman Songbook” playing a lead opposite Broadway stars Martin Vidnovic, Donna McKechnie. He worked one-on-one with Jerry Herman throughout the production, and was asked to reprise his role at the York Theatre Co. & on the original cast album. He also performed in the documentary feature film "Words and Music" for PBS. Tom then moved home to Cincinnati to record an EP co-produced by Roger Klug. After that he relocated to Hollywood and began playing clubs around town. He quickly became the house pianist/singer at a historic Melrose club and continued his songwriting. Tom was then cast in the title role in the world premiere of the rock musical “PILGRIM” at the Ricardo Montalban Theatre for which he received great reviews & exposure--even billboards on Hollywood Blvd.
Tom continued his songwriting and began playing to packed audiences at clubs in Los Angeles like The Derby, The Viper Room, Tangier, Republic, etc. and a residency at The Mint. He toured internationally with his wife, Jennifer Korbee (3x Emmynominated TLC/Discovery TV show "Hi-5") and played in Toronto, Vancouver, Sydney etc.
He began working with producer Robb Vallier on a song for the Obama campaign and they have since produced tracks for Tom's record, Jenn's album and for other artists. Tom is also currently collaborating with Daniel Jones of Savage Garden on new songs and recordings.
Tom currently lives in Los Angeles, is writing and working on his own album, and also writes and produces for other artistsis .
